Grace Period

A collaboration with Arturo Bandinelli & KWAM Collective

Grace Period is a coming-of-age drama set in the world of competitive women’s gymnastics. The short film examines how young women navigate ambition, friendships, and abuse within a culture obsessed with perfection. It’s an intimate yet socially resonant piece about gender, power, and desire.

WE ARE CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR TWO ROLES TO JOIN THIS PROJECT!

Some development funding has already been secured, and we’re now looking for a writer and producer to help take the project to the next stage. You’ll collaborate closely with the directors to shape the script from concept to completion.

SCREENWRITER

Who we’re looking for:

  • A screenwriter with a strong sense of character, emotion, and tone

  • Confident writing naturalistic dialogue and complex interpersonal dynamics

  • Sensitive to the psychic interplay of opposing forces, open to exploring ambiguity and contradiction

  • Early-career or emerging writer welcome (recent graduate or with short-form experience)

  • Open, reflective, and collaborative in creative development

  • Excited to work on, develop, and give a narrative voice to an existing concept and storyline based on extensive ethnographical research

We offer:

  • A flat development fee for this phase of work (£500 - £800 negotiable flat rate)

  • Shared writing credit and future paid opportunities as development progresses

  • Flexible working arrangements (remote or in-person in London)

  • The chance to contribute to a bold, socially engaged short film with festival and industry ambitions

To apply, please email to info@kwamcollective.com:

  • A short introduction (why this story/theme might resonates with you)

  • A writing sample (short script, pilot, or excerpt from a longer piece). If possible, a dialogue where a change in tone or relation dynamic takes place

  • CV and/or links to previous fiction film work

PRODUCER

Who we're looking for:

  • A producer with a proactive, independent spirit and strong organisational skills

  • Open to emerging and early- to mid-career professionals

  • Proven experience in raising funds for short films (especially familiarity with BFI Network, regional film funds, EU co-production funds)

  • Solid understanding of pitching, design, and presentation materials — able to help shape compelling proposals and visual decks for funders and partners

  • Passion for authentic storytelling and commitment to ethical, collaborative filmmaking

  • Confidence in handling budgets, schedules, and development paperwork

  • Strong eye for creative potential, talent development, and funding opportunities

We offer:

  • A development fee, with further pay structure tied to production budget (£600 - £1000 negotiable flat rate)

  • Full producer credit and festival submission involvement

  • Flexible working (remote or in-person meetings in London)

  • Opportunity to shape an artistically ambitious short with real social resonance

To apply, please email info@kwamcollective.com:

  • A brief introduction (who you are and why this project interests you)

  • Please provide details of any short film(s) you have produced or helped fund. We encourage you to be specific about your approach to securing funding for a project like this, including any strategies, networks, or experience with schemes such as the BFI Short Film Fund or similar initiatives.

  • A short CV, links to your producing portfolio and/or previous projects
